I have forgotten my password XXXXX open my mac computor. I cant

I have forgotten my password XXXXX open my mac computor. I can't get anywhere to correct the problem, as I can't get in. My hint is aircraft, I have tried every aircraft I can think of, but no go.

What version of Mac OS X are you using ? Do you have the Mac OS X installation discs ?

yes I have disc and mac os x 10.6

You can reset the Administrator/Login password XXXXX the Mac OS X installation disc

  • Insert the Mac OS X installation disc 1 to your Mac.
  • Turn off your Mac
  • Turn it back on and immediately hold down the C key on your Keyboard.
  • This should boot your Mac directly into Mac OS X installation screen
  • Choose your Language and click Next button.
  • Then choose Reset Password option from the Utilities menuin the top menu bar
  • Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.Select the user account
  • Enter a new password XXXXX Click Save.
  • Restart your Mac

I didn't have any luck.
this screen just stayed on I am useung my wifes log to talk to you as I can't get on with mine

I may not be doing it right to go. Do I shutdown computor and then turn back on insert disc and hold down c key

No, insert the disc 1, then turn off your Mac by holding down the Power button. Then turn it back on and immediately hold down C key until it boots into disc. It may take maximum of 30 minutes to boot into disc.
