i have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 with lion 10.7.3 and parallels

Resolved Question:

i have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 with lion 10.7.3 and parallels 7 with windows platform and everything works great but it will not shut off. The loading gear just keeps going and have to do force shut down with on off button. Called apple and did a few things like safe mode and problem although it seemed had gone away did not. Tried applejack and seemed to go away but did not.

What do i do short of sending back to apple.

power on hold command, option(alt), P and R. hold all four keys down

i did this with apple and although it shut down properly after that once or twice the problem resumed again.

i mean it does shut off the system completely right

do you have verizon manager running on your system?

Customer:

when i do a shut down the system does not shut down - the loading gear on the grey screen with the apple keeps going round and round. then i shut down by the on off button and it shuts down. the command option p and r command seems to correct the problem for the present and then it returns. i also did the applejack program and it moved a misplaced kernel into the proper position and then it seemed to be fixed. but again the problem returned. i even reprogrammed with lion os 10.7.3 from the apple app store and the problem still persisted.

Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor

open activity monitor up

CompExpert :

you have to test one by one

and track down which application that running that caused the problem

then remove it or uninstall it

how do i do that. i am in the activity monitor.

also, did you remember when this start happening?

go to system memory

CompExpert :

you can see what application is running

a problem i think from the beginning. even before i installed parallels.

ok in memory

you see all the application that currently running right

check see which app you know running the most memory

try to force shut down those

CompExpert :

then restart your computer see if that fix it

go back to activity monitor

also, another way is go to this directory Library/LaunchAgents

in there you see a lot of .plist file

pulled each of them to desktop and test which one caused the problem

if you anti virus software like com.kaspersky.kav.gui.plist

plug those first

There is now intego, kaspersky, and parallels.plist's.
