Thank you for the question. You should be able to open Safari by using the spotlight search to open it, and then right-clicking the icon and selecting Options -> Keep in Dock. To open the spotlight search, just press cmd+spacebar, or click the magnifying glass on the top right corner of your screen and typing Safari.

i have tried what you say previous to this. It does not work because I get choice of three different safari (application and some others with no clear icon. none of them leads to a solution)

If the application is missing or was partially removed, I would suggest downloading and installing from this page.

hi,
maybe I can shine some light on your problem.

Delete the files com.apple.dock.plist and com.apple.dock.db from /Users/..(your account name)../Library/Preferences

after deleted those two files, reboot your system.

that should fix your missing icon problem.
