NickMacIT :

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer.com.

My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will assist you with your issues.

Have you use your ipad to connect to this network before?

Customer:

no, I just got it

Customer:

It was connected to my sons network two days ago

NickMacIT :

so you are trying to setup?

Customer:

yes

NickMacIT :

Oh I see

NickMacIT :

can you try to reset it?

NickMacIT :

do you know where the power button is?

NickMacIT :

and the home button?

Customer:

Like I said in my question, it obviously finds me since my network shows up in the "choose a Network box" but it just spins and spins.

Customer:

I did power it off and then back on

Customer:

By resetting it do you mean powering it off and then back on?

NickMacIT :

no

NickMacIT :

press and HOLD the power button AND the home button for 12 seconds

Customer:

the home button is the indented one on the face?

NickMacIT :

yes

NickMacIT :

with white square

Customer:

k, just did that, it went dark and now has the apple on the front but isn't powering up????

Customer:

sorry, it did power back up - now what?

NickMacIT :

now try to connect to your wifi

NickMacIT :

go to settings->wifi

Customer:

It popped up "cristeaflorida" which is my network, then spins and spins - then goes off and says "not connected"

NickMacIT :

now try to reset the settings

Customer:

okay how?

NickMacIT :

go to Settings->General->Reset->reset all settings

Customer:

okay - it's doing something!

Customer:

powered off and now powering back on it looks like

NickMacIT :

after it starts, please try to connect to your wireless again

Customer:

okay - standby

NickMacIT :

it should ask about location services and wireless

Customer:

yes it did and I entered them, it ask me to choose my network again and enter a password XXXXX which I hope I did correctly - it's spinning - how long should it take?

Customer:

It's still spinning!!!

Customer:

AND SPINNING!!!

NickMacIT :

do you have access to your router?

Customer:

YES

NickMacIT :

can you please go to its settings

NickMacIT :

then go to wireless settings

Customer:

THEY JUST INSTALLED A NEW ONE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO - I WONDERED IF THAT MIGHT BE MY PROBLEM

NickMacIT :

look for security and filter MAC address

Customer:

HOW DO I GET OUT OF WHERE I AM?

NickMacIT :

by the way

NickMacIT :

please use Ctrl + D to bookmark this page

NickMacIT :

so you can return anytime

NickMacIT :

so you can access the router?

NickMacIT :

you can open a new IE window

Customer:

OH, YOU MEAN HERE ON THE COMPUTER NOT THE IPAD?

NickMacIT :

on the computer

Customer:

did I mention that I have vonage which requires two routers and does that matter?

NickMacIT :

which is your cable/dsl router?

Customer:

I have a linksys, an RCA, and a motorola? which one???

Customer:

the RCA

NickMacIT :

Linksys

Customer:

the cable one is the RCA

NickMacIT :

linksys is your wireless router right?

Customer:

it's the one they just put in

Customer:

yes

Customer:

linksys is my wireless router

NickMacIT :

so your computer is connected to linksys?

Customer:

yes as well as the other two

NickMacIT :

so on this computer

NickMacIT :

please open an IE window

Customer:

okay done

Customer:

now what?

NickMacIT :

type this in and press Enter

NickMacIT :

192.168.1.0

NickMacIT :

if not working then try 192.168.1.1

Customer:

the first one didn't work, said it no longer was available, the second one did but it ask me for a user name and password

NickMacIT :

type admin for username and leave password XXXXX

NickMacIT :

then press enter

Customer:

wouldn't accept no password

Customer:

r u there?

NickMacIT :

here

NickMacIT :

then try no username password = admin

Customer:

nope - still won't take it

Customer:

WOW, am I just this stupid or is this way complicated?????

NickMacIT :

what is your linksys router model?

Customer:

it says N HOME ROUTER

Customer:

wrt120n

Customer:

WHEN I TRIED THE PASSWORD, IT SAID WRT120N AS WELL

NickMacIT :

thanks

NickMacIT :

one second

Customer:

OKAY

NickMacIT :

username should be blank and password XXXXX XXXXX

NickMacIT :

those are default

Customer:

I'LL TRY AGAIN

NickMacIT :

thanks

NickMacIT :

no CAPS please

NickMacIT :

it's case sensitive

Customer:

well, no go - it says 192.168.1.1 requires a username and password. Warning: this server is asking you for a username and password XXXXX sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)

NickMacIT :

do you have the manual ?

Customer:

I tried no caps, caps, both username and password XXXXX - get the same answer everytime

NickMacIT :

it should be on there

Customer:

no - sorry, I've had this router for sometime and don't know what I did with it. My laptop has always worked with this router so I don't understand why the ipad won't connect

Customer:

well, you won't believe this but I typed in my old standby user name and password XXXXX the darned thing opened up

Customer:

now what/?

NickMacIT :

it rarely happens

Customer:

It says setup - basic setup

NickMacIT :

you got in?

NickMacIT :

please go to wireless

Customer:

yeah amazing huh?

NickMacIT :

NickMacIT :

do you see wireless?

Customer:
