Our iPad clicks out as soon as we hook up with FaceTime. We see our family briefly on the screen and then it goes black immediatly

Try a reset first. Press and hold the power button and the home button together until you see an apple logo.

If that does not resolve the issue, I would recommend restoring the iPad. Open iTunes in the computer and connect the iPad. Now restore the iPad from iTunes. After the restore is complete, select the option "restore from backup".

If that too does not help, restore it again and this time, select the option "set up as a new iPad"
