Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.

Add this page to your Favorites/Bookmarks first, so as to get back to me anytime later on, if needed.

From Apple support:

Blinking orange indicates that the unit is syncing with iTunes or that disk use was enabled in iTunes. In this state, iPod shuffle may be charging or fully charged. Check the charge status icon next to the iPod shuffle in iTunes or eject iPod shuffle from iTunes but leave it connected to USB and determine if the status light changes to solid green or solid orange.

1.I played some of the contents on the shuffle
2.turned the music off.
3diisconnnected shuffle from i-tunes and left attached to usb port.
4. the blinking light continues.
5. Should there be some kind of a warrantee on this shuffle?
Thank you for your reply.

Regarding #3, did you eject the iPod? This is done by clicking on the arrow next to the iPod in iTunes (not a physical or cable removal).

Another thing you should check is your version of iTunes (the most current is 10.5.2)

1.I have repaired latest version of itunes
2. reset shuffle green light came on breifly then blinking orange light returned.
Thank you.

There are only two states that your iPod can be in:

1) Unit is syncing with iTunes (there will be a progress bar in iTunes until the syncing has completed) Solution, allow the syncing to complete. And when complete, turn off Auto Syncing.

2) Disk use was enabled in iTunes
