nope, i hit ok and now it's back to the settings screen showing a Shaw mail account under accounts. I shouldn't of hit ok, sorry!

i just reread what you wrote earlier and that happens quite often...and it usually is not an error at all
k i just sent myself an email from the computer and it did show up on my phone yay! But I just tried to reply and it says

go to your outgoing server settings under the mail account
its going to be under Advanced
what do you see you for outgoing server

under advanced there are no outgoing settings, just incoming
but under just the account the outgoing is mail.shaw.ca
is there a password XXXXX?
is ssl turned off?
not for outgoing, only for incoming

and change the port to 465
and type in the user and pass like normal, without the @shaw.ca
should i change the user name back to without the @shaw.ca under outgoing?
also, in your shaw webmail, do you see anything about mobile access?

nope. there are no properties, just settings and that only has date and time and timezone options
then other settings for mail options for forwarding, junk mail filters etc. nothing for mobile

nope, my shaw webmail is under my Mom's shaw account now. we just moved out to an acreage and shaw doesn't come out here

MOST internet service providers will not allow you to send email on their network using another smtp server
its a preventative measure to stop spammers

or you can use the shockware smtp servers
but try coming off of wifi which will put you on the virgin mobile network
and then see if it works
usually cell phone companies do not enforce such blocks
oh I couldn't find where to change the name back without the shaw.ca for the outgoing. it only says smtp mail.shaw.ca under outgoing

then you could use their SMTP server on everyone's network

SSL is secure...smtp is the outgoing server
I am not a computer person at all, just know how to use one
ssl would be the connection

i would call them and ask them if they have another smtp server or another configuration to use on your phone
