Hi, have you tried a different set of earphones?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I only have one set - the ones that came with the iPhone. I bought it in May, 2011.
Expert:  James replied 5 years ago.
Are you able to try the earphones with your computer, or any other device?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Not where I am right now e.g. not near a computer.
Expert:  James replied 5 years ago.
Ok.
Is there a case on the iPod?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I don't have an iPod - I have an iPhone and I'm just trying to play what I downloaded and listen to it through the headset/earphones.

Do you have a case on the iPhone?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Yep. It goes around all the edges and covers the back but all buttons are accessible.
Expert:  James replied 5 years ago.
Take the case off please, and then plug the earphones in. Plug them in all the way (no metal visible on the plug).

Do they work?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
No. I pushed the earphone jack in has far as it would go.

Thank you for trying this.

You need to test this earphone with another device, or test your phone with another earphone set.

The phone switches to the earphones automatically - there is no setting or button you need to change. Inside the earphone hole there is a micro-switch that the plug depresses and this tells hte phone the earphones are connected.

Either the phone or the earphones are defective, so you need to make this test to determine which one it is.

Thanks,

J.
