Hi Mike, my wireless internet bills are too high, and I want to know if I can use my iPhone 3GS personal hotspot instead of my Bell ovation MC998D internet stick. will the tethered iPhone provide all the same speed/functionality as the internet stick?
That depends on what wireless system the Bell device is using? Do you know is it 4G?

I'm not sure where to look for that - the internet stick is a Novatel U998, and on the profile tab on my laptop it provides the following information:
Profile technology GSM Devices
Profile name Novatel U998
Profile type User
Connection options automatic
application launcher launch - no
browser launch - no
NDS server obtain DNS automatically

The Bell high-speed network tab contains all the same details typed above.

Where would it tell me if it is 4G?
