Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
let‘s check some things:

Please go to the Apple logo on the upper left of the screen, go to About This Mac (DO NOT Select More Info), and tell me the Version (under Mac OS X), the Processor and the Memory, it is all right there.

Then go to Macintosh HD, then go to Applications folder inside that is another folder called Utilities inside that is an application called Disk Utility. Double click on that and when it opens you will see your hard drive (usually Macintosh HD) on the left. Highlight your hard drive and click on Verify Disk on the right. If that is OK and only if that is OK click on Repair Permissions. If Verify Disk is not OK try to Repair. If Repair is successful then Repair Permissions if it is not successful let me know.

I all is OK go to Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/ trash com.apple.LaunchServices.plist restart and try again.
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
Did you try that?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Still get error 6 message
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
My Hard drive is in two partitions. Machintosh HD has all my apps incuding Phtoshop The other partition is where I installed LION. Machintosh Hd partition needs repair but disk Utility will not repair it because "Will not unmount" The other partition containing the op sys LION is OK.
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
That is your problem that will not work. Why do you have two partitions?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Always had two--kept pix and videos in separate partition. When I installed LION it gave me option of installing on second partition. It installed fine and most everything works fine.---but not Adobe stuff
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
They have to be installed on the system drive.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Any way to uninstall Lion and reinstall on other partition ?
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
You can try booting with the Option key then choose Recovery HD this will give you the option to reinstall Lion.
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
I don‘t think it is a good idea to have two partitions at all... hard drives are so cheap now I would just get an external drive for files and backup.
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
Did that work?
