I am running Snow Leopard on an iMac.
I am also tired of having to continually type and retype my email address.
My question is: Is it posssible to 'program' a currently unused function key (F13, F14, F15 etc) so that inputting my email address becomes a simple keystroke?

Hello Mike, my name is Dan.
I will do my best to help you, the only stupid question is the unasked one.
There is a way, actually more than one. It is called Automator, Mac 101: Automator and here are some pre-made actions that may have just what you need.

Another is called AppleScript, more a for-runner to Automator and is much harder to use, syntax and all.
I think you will find AutoMator what you need.
