Hello, and thank you for asking your question, with JustAnswer.com/Mac.?I am Sr. Mac Support Specialist, Terry,  glad to assist you.?? (Please Note: In advance I appreciate your Accept. This seems to occur with the Lexmark 3500-4500 series of printer in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Here is a process I would recommend you try in order to resolve this issue:

• Disconnecting the printer,
• Go to your Macintosh hard drive
• Click on System Folder
• Locate the Library Folder
• Locate the Extensions folder
• Delete the extension file: LexmarkUSBMerge.kext

• Now reconnect the printer and try to access your scanner again.

The issue may be with a possible corrupt Kernel Extension file for the Lexmark printer series in Snow Leopard.

So give this procedure a try and let me know if this helps.

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX watch for your update.

Regards,

Terry
