I AM TRYING TO SEND E-MAILS BUT I AM GETTING A MESSAGES SAYING THAT IT CANNOT SEND MESSAGE USING THE [email protected]

Are you using any mail clients like Outlook or Thunderbird ?

Did you try removing and adding back the mail in outlook ?

If not remove the present mail account and add it back

You are using Hotmail inside Outlook right ?

YES and it did not work when i remove and added the account

Check your settings :



    Hotmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop3.live.com (logon using Secure Password XXXXX - SPA, mail server port: 995)


    Hotmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.live.com (SSL enabled, port 25)

This is how to add Hotmail in Mac mail

Joseph :




  • Select Mail | Preferences... from the Mac OS X Mail menu.

  • Go to the Accounts category.

  • Click the + ("Create an account.") button.

  • Enter your name under Full Name:.

  • Type your Windows Live Hotmail address (something like "[email protected]") underEmail Address:.

  • Type your Windows Live Hotmail password XXXXXPassword:.

  • Click Continue.

  • Make sure POP is selected under Account Type:.

  • Enter "Windows Live Hotmail" (or something similar) as the Description: for this account.

  • Type "pop3.live.com" (not including the quotation marks) under Incoming Mail Server:.

  • Enter your complete Windows Live Hotmail address ("[email protected]", for example) under User Name:.

  • Click Continue.

  • Enter "Windows Live Hotmail" under Description: for Outgoing Mail Server.

  • Type "smtp.live.com" under Outgoing Mail Server:.

  • Make sure Use Authentication is checked.

  • Enter your full Windows Live Hotmail address (e.g. "[email protected]") under User Name:.

  • Type your Windows Live Hotmail password XXXXX Password:.

  • Click Continue.

  • Now click Create.

  • Close the Accounts window.

there are no anitvirus programs besides the programs that probably came with it

Can you turn off the firewall.
