When I hit return, my Word program always double spaces. If

When I hit return, my Word program always double spaces. If I'm typing an address or heading, I don't want this to happen. What can I do?

Also - I don't know how this happened, but I now get blue paragraph symbols and dots for spaces. How can I make this go away?

1- What Operative System version do you have ? (Windows XP, Vista, 7, Mac OS X, etc?)

Hi John,
My Operating System is Mac 10.6.4
My Word version is Office for Teachers 2008, Version 12.2.6

Please follow the steps below:

1- Open Word.

2- Click Format, then click "Paragraph"

3- Click the drop-down list under "Line spacing" and select "Single"

4- Click OK

5- Try now to see if you don't get double spaces anymore.

If you are working on a previous document, select all the document first then follow the previous steps.

I tried that many times. The document single spaces if I'm typing text and it wraps. If I hit return it automatically double spaces. Nothing I've tried corrects the problem. <br /><br />It's really an issue when typing an address on a letter or when typing a heading, such as when typing a paper or report.<br /><br />I'm going to bed.  Will check in tomorrow morning.
