Customer Question

The Safari compass icon appears on the top right side of my screen-how do I make it disappear from the top right side of the screen?

Hello, my name is Dan.
I will do my best to help you, the only stupid question is the unasked one.
First, before we do anything with it, we need to find out if it is an alias, the application or a copy. The image below is taken from a screenshot in the applications folder, it will have the same submenu as the one that is on your desktop.
Right-click or control click on the icon and select get info from the resulting menu.

After we find this information then we will know what to do with it.

The compass icons info. window is now on the left side of my screen-what do I do now?
Expert:  Daniel replied 6 years ago.
Read it, and tell me what it says about being an application or an alias. It will tell you this directly under the general item.
If you don't say anything then click on the tiny triangle right next to the word General.
It will say Kind: Alias or Application.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Below the word "general" it says-"kind:Apple icon image".
Expert:  Daniel replied 6 years ago.
Okay, leave that alone and open your applications folder.
You can do this in a Finder window or by double-clicking your drive icon on your desktop.
I want you to locate the application Safari in the applications folder.
Let me know what you find.

The Safari compass icon is in the Applications folder.

Okay then, you can safely dragnet icon that is on your desktop to the trash. Then from the Finder drop-down menu select empty trash otherwise it will still be there taking up room.
Is there anything else that I can help you with?

No, that is the only question I had. Thanks Daniel, you are very helpful!

You are very welcome, I wanted to make sure that it was not the application we were throwing away.
