gray screen of death with spinning wheel, many restarts 24" I-Mac with Tiger 10.4.3,
Did the PRAM, NVRAM resets and pulled memory out placed back in slots....
booted in safe mode Shift-Command-V so I can see progress, seems to be in a loop indicating runtime corruption detected on Mac HD, fsck will be forced on next mount.. then a whole series of mDNSResponder text lines with error messages....
I am most concerned about no losing HD data....
Any suggestions? I have a working G4 I-Mac "Golf Ball" with Fire Wire cable...

Do you have the Mac OS X installation discs ?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

Yes I have the OSX disks for Tiger 10.4.3. However the last time I tried to run a disk the drive would not respond. Hopefully this can be overcome.

Sorry for the delay...You said you have another Mac and Firewire cable. So first we can try to save your files. Setup the two Macs in Target Disk Mode and then transfer the files from your Mac to another one.
