External Hard drive just stopped working over the weekend.

Resolved Question:

External Hard drive just stopped working over the weekend. I changed offices over the weekend, didn't drop it or otherwise have a problem. Any thoughts?

hello there! i would love to help. When you connect your hard drive can you open disk utility and see if the disk shows on the left hand pane. If it does we might have verify permissions or the disk itself.

I wasn't clear enough-the drive won't come on, like it's not plugged into a power source.

Oh i see that might be a issue with the controller board in the external drive. Whats the make and model of the drive?

Verbatim #bc500 (also says Verbatim 96638)

Alright well i checked out that model and found that it could be one of two things. The first is the power adapter could be bad if u can find another one with the same voltage to test that would be great if not then the issue is as stated before with the controller board that turns on the device. If its the latter it will need service by verbatim.
