Make sure you system is up to date and:

Go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility and select your hard drive on the left. On the right click Verify Disk. If that is OK click on Repair Permissions. If not try to repair.
Expert:  Mike replied 6 years ago.
Also make sure you don't have any other programs like iChat open that might be using the camera. Other than that I don't have any more ideas.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
verify disk was OK...I did the repair permissions and that didn't help. no more ideas?...bummer! This Macbook is about 5 months old...the hard drive died and was replaced approx 2 months ago...could that have anything to do with it? The Apple support folks says the problem definitely lies in skype....any suggestions on who to ask next? I really need the camera working for the product development work I'm doing with a Taiwan client
