Mac won't shut down because iPhoto is importing photos

Resolved Question:

my mac wont shut down because it says iphoto is importing photos. iphoto cancels the shutdown. maybe i disconnected my camera before importing was complete.. but now i just want to shutdown my computer. how do i stop iphoto from cancelling shutdown?? please help!

You can force iphoto to quit by hitting command-option-escape. Then choose iPhoto from the list of programs and click "Force Quit". Once that's done, you can shut down your computer.
