Operating MacPro, OS 10.5 Purchased and installed Logitech

Customer Question

Operating MacPro, OS 10.5 Purchased and installed Logitech 2300 speakers, Worked fine for one week. Then connection disappeared, Initial error message device has no output controls. Current error message no Logitech device found.
Connection to computer by wire to audio output outlet.

Hi Dreyfus,

While researching your problem, I came upon an Apple discussion:

From what's stated, it sounds as if your Mac believes it's stuck in some sort of "mode", causing it confusion as to what's connected. Believe it or not, it suggests using a toothpick to disengage the audio jack.

If this does nothing for you, please make sure you have the correct "defaults" set in your Audio.

1) Applications -> Utiltiies -> Audio Midi Setup

What you're looking for is Default Input, Output, System Output are set to Built-In Output

Within "Properties for", set to "Built-In Output".
At bottom right, make sure "Audio Output" has the following:
Source: Internal Speakers
Format: 44100.0 Hz/2ch-24bit

Next go to System Preferences / Sound and confirm the following settings (if you can):
Under Output:
Internal Speakers should be selected as the Built-In Output, if not let me know what it does have in the dialogue box
Output Volume is not Muted in the check box at the bottom.
