Do you have a small fan looking icon in your Menu bar near the upper right of your screen?

If so, click on it. What name show up there if you let it search for networks?

Is the Netgear a wireless router?

If no fan, or it says No Networks, does your Netgear require a SSID name to be typed in (is it hidden?)?

Let me know,

Hi Mike,

I do not have a "fan" looking icon at the top right of my screen. (laptop you are referring too) right ?

Yes, The router is netgear wireless router.. ID # XXXXX

I'm not sure if this requires a SSID or not .. how will I know if it does or not ?

This use to work fine but something happened and I think i need to be reconfigured, (maybe)

Need that fan first.
Go to your Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

In here, click on Network.
In the device listing, left side, is there an Airport device listed?
