I am unable to install a Lexmark X1185 printer in a Macbook Pro I just purchased, but it is asking me to contact the printer manufacturer for the latest software. Pls. help.

Can you click the apple icon then choose about this mac and let us know what OSX version you are running?

 

Can you also tell us how long you have had the 1100 series printer?

The OSX verson is the 10.6 and is brand new

I have gad the 1100 series printer for at least 3/4 yrs

Ok,

 

The problem you are going to face is that driver support for your 1100 series printer ended with OSX 10.3, The driver that is available from Lexmark may work, however Snow Leopard may not be able to use the driver from lexmark.

 

If you can follow this link then download the driver and try to install it http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=DR522&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&userlocale=EN_US&segment=DOWNLOAD&productCode=LEXMARK_X1185&searchid=1259010433428

 

Once installed let me know if the pritner will work or if you get an error
