This concerns an iMac G-5. The administrator's password XXXXX XXXXX longer being accepted, so software updates are not possible. Is there any way to resolve this problem?

I think I can help but I'll need a bit more information. Do you happen to have an install CD for your version of MacOS X or your restore disks?
If so, there is an option to reset the administrative password XXXXX you boot from those disks.
