Hello my name is Dan.
Would you please elaborate on what Apple update?
What Mac OS X are you using?
What have you tried to do?
If you have already included this info I have not as yet received it.

I am not sure of the latest update but it was two weeks ago. I am using Leopard. I have an airport extreme, one of the first ones out. Never had any problems before. I am communicating with you on an HP laptop.

Tough times call for sacrifices.
If you have the install disks then insert disk 1 and hold down the 'C' key and start it up. If you can't get the disk in then hold down the 'Option' key and start up and insert the disk when you can.
You may have to refresh the startup manager to make it read the disk.
Boot form the DVD and when you get to the install screen ignore the installer and in the menu bar Utilities drop down menu choose Disk Utility.
It will show you this.

I want you to do two things, 1 repair permissions and 2 repair the hard drive.

What disc should I put in the drive? The original software install or a later version, tiger or leopard?

I have put in the leopard disc and held down the c key, it went to the gray apple logo screen and the fans started up loudly but nothing else has happened, should I hold down the c key longer? or what?

That is not a good sign. Please tell me the model G5 you have with the speed or year made.

I did just as it said. Restarted the computer and got nothing. The fans started up after a couple of minutes but nothing came on the screen. Is there anything else I can do and where do I find a apple service center?
