You need a DVI to VGA/XGA adaptor from Apple. They cost about 20.00 and can be found in Mac Mall or an Apple retail outlet.
I have the same machine and use Benq projectors and they plug in the same way.

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX the Apple adaptor fit into/over the cable that came with the projector?

It will accept one end of the cable that came with the projector. I suggest taking the cable with you if you are going to the Apple store just to make sure you get the correct one, there are different ones for different connections.
If you are ordering from MacMall then match the picture with the cable end.
