Hello,

Is this iMovie HD or at least something prior to iMovie '08? If so...

In the Finder, navigate to your iMovie application.

Press and hold the control button

Click on the iMovie app while holding the control key

from the resulting window, choose "Show Package Contents"

open Contents from the resulting window

open Resources from the resulting window

open English.lproj from the resulting window

Find the file called Localizable.strings but do not double-click it

Click on the Localizable.strings document while holding the control key

from the resulting window, choose "open with..."

from the resulting window, choose "other"

from the resulting window, next to the word "enable:" make the pull down menu say "All Applications"

Navigate to the program "TextEdit." The Localizable.strings document will open in th TextEdit program

press command-f for "find" and type (or copy/paste) the word:

defaultVideoFormat

press retrun to search for it

When you find it, you'll see:

defaultVideoFormat = "DV-NTSC";

change it so that it says:

defaultVideoFormat = "DV-PAL";

press command-s for save

Quit TextEdit

Launch iMove and you should be good to go from now on.

Take care!
