PLEASE HELP--ASAP: Importing video from .wmv file to iMovie

I have a video saved on the DVD-R under the file format of .wmv. I'm trying to import the video from that DVD-R to iMovie 08'.

What steps do I need to take to import this .wmv movie from this DVD-R.

I've tried the "free software aproach"...it didn't work.

I've tried the MPEG Streamclip approach...it didn't work.

PLEASE HELP!
Where did the wmv file originate from? And what version of iMovie are you on?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
it originate from the PC computer. My version of iMovie '08 is 7.1.4.
Is it a movie file or one that was downloaded from a website?

You need to be able to export it from wmv to quicktime first.

Best way to do that is to go to http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm and download the WMV player pro app. It will cost $30, but it will give you an easy way to export files to quicktime, and will also enable you to view wmv files through Quicktime.

Once you have the file in Quicktime, importing to iMovie should be seamless, but let me know if you run into any snags.
