My safari abrubptly stopped working. I click on it, it goes

My safari abrubptly stopped working. I click on it, it goes to the internet screen..and then the screen disappears

I want to make it clear that it is the computer where something is wrong, NOT the internet. The internet works fine as I am now on another computer

Then when it prompts you to, insert your OS X disc and instruct the program to reinstall Safari.

Ok, let's try trashing a few files then to see if that will fix the problem.

Macintosh HD/Users/[your user id]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

Macintosh HD/Users/[your user id]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist

Then delete the directory:

Macintosh HD/Users/[your user id]/Library/Safari
