I have a G4 /450mhz, 1.3g memory, and would like to know if I can upgrade mhz to run OSX leopard. Also what would the advantage be of 1.7 dual processor over 1.8 single processor? Thank you in advance.
What type of mac do you have? Is it an iMac or a PowerMac?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
a Power Mac
Leopard requires a Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor. So there are several options:

Sonnet Encore/ST G4 1.8 GHz Duet Dual Processor Card - This goes for around $600

Sonnet Encore/ST 1.8 Ghz G4 Processor Upgrade Card - This upgrade card goes for around $400

Sonnet Encore/MDX G4 1.6 GHz Dual Processor Upgrade Card - This one goes for about $500

A dual processor upgrade is useful if you are using your computer for video processing, and other intensive applications. For the most part however, there are not many programs that take advantage of computers with dual processors.
