Resolved Question:

I have a new MacBook Pro and I noticed that certain sounds on my system will trigger a high pitched audio tone that rings until another system sound hits, shutting it off. For instance when I send a file to the trash it will start, when I empty the trash it will stop. What is the cause of this and what settings do I need to change in order to make this stop?

I contacted Apple and they said it is a hardware issue, and you should contact AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273).

Alternately you could take it into your local Apple Store.
