Can you open Itunes on your machine and when it is open connect your iPod to the machine.

What should happen is that iTunes will load the remainder of your software updates to the iPod and reactivate it, If not you should get an error message.

Let me know what happens.

I am wondering if a DfU restore may work for your issue, So could you try the following:-

Turn off your iPhone.

Hold Power and the Home button at the same time and your iPhone should boot.

When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but keep the home button pressed.

Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it has detected an iPhone in restore mode, Then relese the home button and follow the prompts to reload your firmware.

Let me know what happens.
