Customer Question

Using IMovie HD, when I record audio using built-in microphone the playback is through both L&R channels. When using line-in microphone or USB input, audio playback is left channel only.

What type of mac are you using?

What version of OS X are you running?

What source are you using that is going into the line-in?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Reply to Aggie Mac Master's Post: IMac.
Latest version of Tiger.
Line-in is regular microphone through line-in port in back.
Problem is the same when using USN audio interface.

This may be an input issue rather that a playback issue. When using Garage Band there are three record options LH-mono, RH-mono, and L&R Stereo. When I record with the internal mcrophone, the input is picked up using any of these settings. When using the mic line-in or USB audio interface, the only setting that allows recording is LH-mono. When I do this, it records in both L&R channels and plays back in both as well. I just can't imagine that with a program like IMovie HD that using a line-in mic or USB audio interface, that you can't record or playback in both L&R channels. There has to be some way to achieve this. Thanks

I am opting out, as I really have no idea why your computer is not receiving stereo input. Stay tuned for another guide who may be able to assist you better than I.
