How do I fix volume control on my mac? I have the volume control turned all the way up and it still comes in very softly.

What type of mac are you using?

Are you using the built in speakers or are you using external seakers?

Let us know

Reply to Claws224's Post: built-in speakers --- hope that helps! thanks.

I've got a Mac G-5
Also, I am hearing sound only from the tower speakers -
not the speakers in the computer.

What type of speakers are your Tower speakers?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
My speakers are built into the tower.
What I want I think, is to hear
sound through my 17" Sony video monitorr
Have I left anything else out?

So you connected the monitors speakers using the included cable from the monitor to the G5 using a 3.5mm headphone jack, Is that correct?

If so could you open System Preferences and select Sound then click Output and select your preferred output method of Analog.

Let me know what happens.

I went into System Preferences...sound...output....
and then it had the line
Internal speakers - built-in audio

then the settings read:
The selected device has no output controls.

Also, coincidentally --- it is now putting out an annoying sound
(thankfully not too loud) --- I went onto Pogo while waiting for a reply and that's when this sound started. I have since signed off of Pogo ---- the sound continues and I went to a movie web-site to see a trailer (and moreimportantly hear it) - and it's sound
came in under this annoying sound that is still continuing.
What now?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Just to let you know - I got rid of the annoying sound
by quitting Firefox and then re-starting it. So at least
that much is fixed.
Now what? (as opposed to what now?)
thanks again.

Could you reboot your machine with the monitor speakers connected then once it has reobooted try going to the movie trailer site again and let me know what happens

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Hooray! You did it!
I pulled out the tower and found the plug
had indeed come out --- and now that it's
back in --- it's sounding just fine.
So - I thank you for your patience and
Thanks again!
