Lexus Troubleshooting Questions? Ask a Lexus Expert
Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. does the red security light go out when attempting to start?
do you have another key?
that is going to be needed. until you try another key i wont be able to tell you if its an immobilizer issue or not. but let me look up a reset procedure for anyway..
ok great. the reset procedure is only to take it to the dealer and have them reset it with there diagnostic computer. sometimes disconnecting the battery (both terminal) touching them together for 15 seconds then reconnecting them works, but with a very low success rate.
ok, has she arrived with the key yet?
ok .let me know and hopefully it works because i would hate for you to have to get it to a dealership and cost you more money.
sorry, had to run out with the family for a while
ok. one last try before sending you to the dealership. make sure the battery has a full charge of 12.5 volts
once you have a good level of charge in the battery try turning on the ignition for 6 minutes, then remove the key and then try to start the car againthe reason for leaving the ignition on for 6mins is so the codes in the anti theft ecu and your master key can resyncronise. When this is complete the immobiliser light on the dash will go out. then you turn ignition off and you should be able to start the vehicle if there are no other problems.
you'll just push the start button on and leave it that way for 6 minutes.
when the 6 minutes is up ,push the start/stop button to off. then try to start.
unfortunately you will need to have the vehicle taken to the dealership to have the immobilizer/ecm/transponder system reprogrammed. sorry i couldnt give you better news. we tried.
