Frustrating charging problem on 2005 Lexus RX330. Battery

Customer Question

Frustrating charging problem on 2005 Lexus RX330.
Battery has been going dead for many months. Replaced battery twice, now has a Lexus battery. Lexus dealership says they can't find anything wrong....says drive the car more (it get's driven once every week or 2 or 3).
I checked the voltage output of the alternator, only 13.2 V, and I've read it will take a LONG time to recharge the battery at the voltage (less than 1 V difference with battery voltage).
I also checked the voltage when the computer turns off after 2 minutes to make sure there isn't a large parasitic load...15-20 mV.
So, I just had a reman Denso alternator installed. Output voltage is STILL 13.2...but now a new problem...voltage is erratic...varying rapidly from 13.0 to 13.5 V.
I have another of these cars, same model and year, it's output voltage is stable at 14.0 V.
The mechanic who used his fancy test equipment says everything "passes" tests, but agrees 13.2 V seems too low. He checked to make sure there is minimum voltage drop across ground connections and the positive connections. Says he never sees a bad reman alternator.
