The issue it this: The lights on the dash (door ajar) always have power running to them. When the doors are opened, the door switch closes, and allows a ground circuit to be enabled. When this happens, the light, with both power and a ground, illuminates. When the door is closed, the ground circuit is interrupted. This causes the light to go out (due to lack of a ground). The remedy here would be to replace the driver side door switch.
