I have a 2014 GS350 Lexus. When I back up, the rear sensors

Customer Question

I have a 2014 GS350 Lexus. When I back up, the rear sensors don't tell me a car is coming. Is there a button car wash guys may have turned off?
JA: Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best. Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: All thumbs, so going to our dealership. On the way home today noticed the mirror sensors weren't working. Found a button that got them working again. Probably turned off at the car wash. Wondered if the same thing happened to reverse sensors. They've been working great. About a week ago noticed they didn't pick up a car coming at me when I was in reverse.
JA: Is there anything else the Lexus Mechanic should be aware of about your Lexus?
Customer: Nothing I'm aware of.
JA: Our top Lexus Mechanic is ready to take your case. Just pay the $5 fully refundable deposit and I'll fill the Lexus Mechanic in on everything we've discussed. You can go back and forth with the Lexus Mechanic until you're 100% satisfied. We guarantee it.

When you put it in reverse does the camera come on and show the display. If you stand next to the sensors while someone has it in reverse holding the brake can you get the sensors to set of the buzzer inside?

The blind spot monitor switch is the switch that turns the system on and the warning lights in the mirror for the blind spot system. If you just turned this on after you started the car it may not allow the cross traffic system to work. Here is the setting or turn on criteria:

●The BSM main switch is set to on.
●The shift lever is in R.
●Vehicle speed is less than approximately 5 mph (8 km/h).
●Approaching vehicle speed is between approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) and 18 mph
(28 km/h).

Here are the conditions that may keep it from working. All of this can be found on about page 295 of your owners manual.

Conditions under which the Rear Cross Traffic Alert function will not detect a vehicle
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function is not designed to detect the following types of
vehicles and/or objects.
●Small motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians etc.*
●Vehicles approaching from directly behind
●Guardrails, walls, signs, parked vehicles and similar stationary objects*
●Vehicles moving away from your vehicle
●Vehicles approaching from the parking spaces next to your vehicle*
●Vehicles backing up in the parking space next to your vehicle*
*: Depending on conditions, detection of a vehicle and/or object may occur.
■Conditions under which the Rear Cross Traffic Alert function may not function
correctly
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function may not detect vehicles correctly in the following
conditions:
●During bad weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow etc.
●When ice or mud etc. is attached to the rear bumper
●When multiple vehicles approach continuously
●Shallow angle parking
●When a vehicle is approaching at high speed
●When parking on a steep incline, such as hills, a dip in the road etc.
●Directly after the BSM main switch is set to on
●When items such as a bicycle carrier are installed on the rear of the vehicle
●Directly after the engine is started with the BSM main switch on
