REPLACING VVTI GEAR ASSY. ON 1999 LEXUS GS300, AS IT WAS LEAKING WHEN WE WERE DOING TIMING BELT AND SEALS. WE BOUHGT A NEW GEAR ASSY. FROM LEXUS AND HAS NO PRE-LOAD /TENSION. UNCERTAIN OF WHERE TO POSITION TIMING MARKS OR IF WE SHOULD LINE UP MARKS WITH GEAR AT ADVANCE OR RETARD. CAN YOU HELP???

On the gear there are two marks a dot and a dash, the dash on the gear lines up with the indent mark on the timing cover, same as the other cam with out the vvti.

These are lined up as I stated, with the harmanic balancer lining it's dash up with 0 degrees on the timing cover.
