The luggage compartment struts are held onto the ball socket by a spring clip. While supporting the luggage compartment with a prop Rod use a small screwdriver and go in behind this spring clip and pop the spring clip out away from the strut and socket assembly . This will allow the strut to release from the ball. When installing the new struts simply push in evenly in the spring clip will separate and snap onto the ball socket.
