From Harlequin Properties, Basildon, I bought an off-plan villa at Two Rivers resort, Dominican Republic, just before a price-rise, Jan 07, for £495K. The 30% deposit was all borrowed money. The contract states completion for 3.10. They had said, on phone, that it would be completed this summer. At a meeting at their HQ, July 2nd, howeever, they stated that, having bought more land at their 1st site, Buccament Bay, they were giving that total priority and our completion date might be another 2 years away! They said we could swap to property @ Buccament; but completion of what we could exchange is still c.18 months away, during which I am still building up a debt. Offer to sell it on has neither a timescale nor takes any account of their broken contract - sale would be at 9% commission, and as if still within contract, for present price c. 775K. They don't seem prepared to sell it at a much-reduced price so we get quick sale and some profit.
Contract states we could reclaim deposit + 10% but this would leave us with a loss of interest built up (and still building). Can I require them to meet my interest payments since 3.10? Do I have any leverage to get them to advertise it at well below 775K?

Hello , a few years ago i purchased shares in an american company that turned out to be bogus and as a result lost quite a bit of money. We have since heard from other people that they have succesfully recouped some money. Are we in a position to persue any kind of claim? Regards, Mark

I have signed a three page agreement letter in order to carry out self-employed consulting work with clients of the software company that used to employ me, that work relating to the software sold by my prior employer. The agreement means that certain work by me is invoiced by my prior employer and I invoice my prior employer for a smaller amount. I can cancel the agreement at 6 months notice, but would like to know if it is legally enforcible or not. I could email a scan of the document for perusal.
