Massachusetts-GC hasn't paid subs, plumber&electrician, we, the clients, are currently post-arbitration-awaiting decision. The subs were great, did their work, the dispute with the GC is over faulty tile work, nothing to do with plumbing/electrical. The GC has informed these subs that he has no intention of paying them for the rough or final. Are we, the owners, liable for any of the subs payments (everything contracted went through the GC, had made some payments to them directly to secure the work), or, can the subs put a mechanics lien on our property in Massachusetts that is legally binding? Can we seek a "request for relief" or something like that, which includes these payments for the subs? I want these guys to get paid, and, I want our home to be protected, HELP!! Thanks much!!

I gave my daughter some expensive artwork to hold for me when I had to move. I moved in with my other daughter and there wasn't any room to store the artwork. I asked for it back 5 years later and she refuses to give it back to me. She was never given the certificates of authenticity to the artwork. What should I do? do I go to the DA's office?
