Do medical insurance companies have a time limit on making changes to claims already paid and demanding repayment on those paid claims?
Primary insurance was available to me through my employer but I declined coverage. Three years later, I find out that the insurance was never dropped and premiums were payed over that period of time. It was paid in full by employer so nothing was deducted from my check which is why I never knew the papers were never handled correctly.
Now the policy that did pay claims is demanding repayment? How long do I have to make claims with insurance that I never knew I had and if too much time has passed, then can other carrier truly demand repayment? Can I be stuck with several hundred thousand dollars of medical bills even though I had not ONE but TWO policies?
