I have a loan with an ex. It was taken out several years ago to pay our rent. We subsequently split up and we are now quarreling about responsibility for the loan repayments. The loan was taken out in my name with him as a signatory. Recently he agreed to pay 50:50 by email but now has changed his mind. He has paid his share a couple of times but now doesn't want to pay any more. Where do I stand legally and how can I proceed to force him to pay the 50% of his loan that he rightly owes? What kind of lawyer should I hire?
