Ask a Lawyer and Get Answers to Your Legal Questions
Good afternoon. One person cannot close the bank account of another person, regardless of their marital status, unless the person who owns the account has given their consent (including through an instrument such as a Power of Attorney) or through court order. If there's no consent, and if there's no court order, it can't legally happen.Let me know if further clarification is needed, and please feel free to leave a rating once you are finished (it does not cost anything extra to do so and it is the only way I may be credited for my answers.) Thank you!
