Ask a Lawyer and Get Answers to Your Legal Questions
Good evening. I am Loren, a licensed attorney, and I look forward to assisting you.
Has the cause of the fire been traced back to faulty installation or something else you may have done?
What was it traced to ? What was the cause?
Thank you for the additional information.
If the dishwasher was defective then that is not, necessarily your problem. It would need to be traced back to something you did which caused the fire. In other words, there would need to be a showing of liability on your part.
Unless you are subpoenaed or otherwise court ordered you have no legal obligation to speak to the investigator.
Then you have a problem. However, I would find it difficult to believe that a faulty installation would not reveal itself for over a year.
Ultimately, these sort of claims boil down to your expert vs their expert. These things are never as cut and dried as you may be led to believe and you can find an expert who will say the installation was fine and the fire was caused by a defective solenoid or a piece of plastic that was not supposed to be placed in the dishwasher.

It is possible, but they would need to show that you knew or should have known of the defect. Otherwise, it would be difficult to hold you liable.
Please remeber to leave a favorable rating so that I am compensated for my time.
