Ask a Lawyer and Get Answers to Your Legal Questions
Good afternoon. There are many different types of relationships. Many times, companionship is wanted by one party and in exchange, they buy or give gifts to the other person and help them out. There is nothing wrong with that. What is illegal and what the police are looking for are situations whereby there is a clear cut exchange of sex for money, whereby there is no intent to have any relationship and the parties do not even know or get to know each other. If someone want to buy and take care of someone else and spend time with them and things of that nature, it is hard for the courts/criminal justice system, define what goes on in a relationship. If someone was simply offering sex for money and that was it, then they could get arrested and charged. Otherwise, nobody can tell two consenting adults how to define their relationship.
I see another expert responded at the same time as me and I agree with the response and am going to opt out and defer to LegalKnowledge. All the best, David
