Customer Question

AREA OF EXPERTISE NEEDED: FEC law, regulations and practices.
My question concerns eligible / allowable expenditures by PACS, SUPER PACS and/or 527's
Would it be permitted for any/all of these entities spend roughly $500,000 to conduct a qualitative/quantitative analysis of a theoretical macro-economic model?
If the results are favorable it would ultimately become a very popular policy initiative ... so popular it could be used in the campaign to garner votes and fund raise
If so, can you point to any similar examples?

Thank you for your question.

Item 46 at http://www.fec.gov/rad/pacs/documents/ExamplesofAdequatePurposes.pdf

via http://www.fec.gov/rad/pacs/FederalElectionCommission-RAD-PACs.shtml#disb6

states that research and research services are an allowable disbursement for a PAC.

You can get a fee consultation from some of the election law attorneys listed by location here.

I hope this information is helpful.
