Is there a statute of limitations speeding ticket in

Customer Question

Is there a statute of limitations for a speeding ticket in Texas? I just received a phone call regarding a ticket that is over 13 years old. This is the first I have heard about the ticket not being paid.

Hello, Speeding offense is a class C misdemeanor, as are most Texas traffic offenses. There is a two-year statute of limitations on this matter. That would mean if a complaint was not filed with the court more than 11 years ago, it cannot be filed now.
