I live in NC and I loaned a friend 500 with 1% interest ever

Customer Question

Hi I live in NC and I loaned a friend 500 with 1% interest ever month they don't pay and they didn't pay. They signed a promissory note promising to pay in 3 installments. Can I sue them in NC if they live in BOston for that money and court cost?

Did the note provide for a confession of judgment or a choice of venue in NC?

If the borrower agreed in the terms of the note to submit themself to the jurisdiction of NC then you may, indeed rely on that provision to sue in your home state.
