My husband has a service-connected mental health disability

Customer Question

My husband has a service-connected mental health disability rating of 30%. We took his service dog to his VA appointment with a psychologist on March 15, 2016. The doctor refused to treat him because of the dog. What can we do?

Hello. I'll be happy to assist you.

Could you describe a little further what type of service the dog does for him?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
The dog is a PTSD service dog, that distracts him from hyper-vigilance, alerts him when he is becoming aggressive , etc.

OK. Has the dog been specifically trained for this? In other words, was this dog obtained specifically for this purpose, or is this a companion dog that helps to calm him down? Also, does he have a prescription from a doctor?
